How to Get a Sponsorship on TikTok

It can be very hard to get brands and companies to sponsor you and your TikTok account. Especially because TikTok is a relatively new and competitive social media platform.

But in this article, I will show you how you can get brands to partner with you for sponsorship.

I will show you how to build a bigger TikTok community that brands will think are worth collab.

How and why you should create Organic Brand Content, and the criteria to join the TikTok Creator Marketplace.

I will also show you alternatives to the TikTok Creator Marketplace that are worth trying out and how much money you can expect to earn from sponsored TikTok content.

And what other strategies you can use to monetize your TikTok account, besides getting a partnership with a brand.

Let’s dive right in.

Step 1: Build your TikTok following

If you want to get sponsorships you should first focus on your fans. To get access to the TikTok Creator Marketplace you need to have at least 100,000 followers.

You might be able to find sponsors without having this many followers but the amount you make per 1,000 impressions is smaller on TikTok than on other platforms. So I would recommend you to be focused to reach this milestone before trying to find sponsors for your account.

Things you need to consider while trying to get more followers:

  • Stick to your content niche

You should try to get followers who are interested in the niche you are doing.

For example, if you are posting TikTok videos about fashion, try to stick to that type of TikTok videos you are creating.

Don’t upload videos that don’t have anything in common with those you uploaded before.

Brands will only sponsor you if your followers are interested in the products they sell.

  • Challenges and Trends

Participate in challenges and trends that pop up inside of TikTok, recreate them for your own audience.

If you are trying to be an Outfit-TikToker, you should do an Outfit Change Challenge.

  • Hashtags

Take advantage of the hashtags and bring your target audience to you. This is one of the most important metrics that can be used to place your content in front of your audience.

For example #FYP or #foryou but also Hashtags that describe your content.

How you should do it:

You should limit the number of hashtags you use to 8 per video.

  • Good looking Profile

Your TikTok profile is basically your virtual business card, so having a professional look is essential.

Your profile should contain a professional profile picture, links to your other channels (YouTube, Instagram, etc.), and a business contact email.

Here is an example of a professional TikTok bio:

In your bio, you should tell your followers who you are and what you do. Use emojis to further underline your personality, and make it look prettier.

Create Organic Content

Brands will most likely not take the risk of sponsoring you, if you have never driven a single sale before, especially on TikTok.

You should create non-sponsored TikTok content about brands and products that you like. Show your followers where to buy those products and encourage them to buy.

If those TikToks perform well on your TikTok page, chances are that brands will notice you and hit you up about a sponsorship.

Step 2: Try Creator Marketplace

If you are over 18, have at least 100,000 followers, posted 5 videos in the last 28 days, and received 100k likes in the last 28 days you should be invited to the TikTok Creator Marketplace.

This is the official place where TikTok influencers and Brands can pair off.

In the Creator Marketplace brands will get access to your matrics and reach out to you if they want to sponsor you.

Influencer /Brand Connection Marketplaces

Over the years, companies have shown up, that promise to connect influencers with different brands and companies.

While I recommend TikTok’s official marketplace over Influencer /Brand Connection Marketplaces, these marketplaces may have other advantages.

Here are a few examples of these types of marketplaces:

TikTok Creator Fund

Joining the Creator Fund is also one way to make money on TikTok

  • You must be 18 years old.
  • have at least 10,000 real followers.
  • and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days to be eligible.
  • Videos created must be produced in line with the TikTok Community Guidelines.
  • Are based in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, or Italy.

You may confuse the TikTok Creator Marketplace with the TikTok Creator Fund. To sum it up short: The Creator Fund will pay you money for the videos you make and the views you get.

And the Marketplace is there to have collaborations with brands.

Step 3: Example Outreach email to get a sponsorship

You should first look for the right email you will send it to, and maybe the person that will receive your email, if you know the person’s name use his/hers instead of the company name.

The best way to get sponsorships from companies on TikTok is via Influencer /Brand Connection Marketplaces, especially when you are a small influencer.
But if you want to speed up the process you can try to reach out to companies.

Example of an Outreach Email to a company:

(feel free to use it)

Hello [company name],

My name is [your name] and I love/use [product or service of the company].

I have been using it for a long time and I also showed it to my [number of followers] followers on TikTok. And they love it. (write this only if it’s true)

I was thinking about strengthening our relationship by a Sponsorship or by sending me more products, so I can show them to my followers.

My average video views from the last 30 days were [insert your average video views]

My niche is [insert your niche], so it would be a good fit for your product. (write this only if it’s true)

The demography of my subscribers are: Age: [insert age], Gender: [insert gender], Countries [where most of your followers live]

Let me know what you think about it!

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely [your name]

Pros and Cons of each Strategy

Sponsorships Affiliate Marketing Selling Merch/ own Products
Pro You might be in the perfect niche to do that. Easy to try. Because no budget is needed. Makes you the most money. Because you control the prices
Con You need a company that wants to sponsor you. Maybe you won’t have the right followers to do that effectively  Need a large audience that loves you,  or your content

How much money you can expect from a sponsorship

When you are considering influencer marketing costs, the number of followers that an influencer has makes a big difference.

Influencers fall into certain categories based on their reach:

How much influencers earn per post depends on which social media platform they use.
TikTok is pretty new to the influencer game and therefore it is not easy to define how much influencers make per post.

But as a general rule of thumb, you can expect 100$ per 10,000 followers. TikTok Content Creator get about this much per post depending on how big their reach is, according to shanebarker:

If you need any great TikTok Calculators that will tell you for example your engagement, I suggest using one of these Calculators:

I hope I have shown you the possibilities or strategies you can use to get your well-deserved TikTok sponsorship. Use Blogger Outreach, or the TikTok creator Marketplace, or other Marketplaces to get in contact with brands.
But keep in mind that for example, a TikTok Page with funny, but not self-made clips will have very low chances to get a sponsorship.

Now that you have this information, there is no excuse to at least try to get a collab, even when you only got less than 10,000 followers.
